How to Remove a Slight Crease From an Art Print
| snelj8 Posts: 206 Member Since: April 2007 | Removing creases?, past snelj8 on Nov 18, 2007 20:04:21 GMT one, How practice professional framers remove creases? Is there a way to completely remove creasing? And even 'fixing' the crease, how much would you estimate this decreases the value of a print? Would a 30% discount be reasonable?I've received a impress pretty severely damaged, but due to the rarity I would prefer to keep the impress, but would like to know if it makes sense to go along and gear up or become 100% refund. Whatever advice is much appreciated. Cheers! |
Removing creases?, past bobbymeachamjr on November 18, 2007 xx:12:34 GMT 1, Creasing peculiarly if not on the paradigm is an like shooting fish in a barrel fix for a profressional. I recently had a slice with severe creases (plural) that hitting the very edge of the image. $300 usd afterward at a reputable pro information technology's virtually "mint". I'one thousand very detailed oriented and I can't find Whatsoever imperfections. I guess this might vary depending whether its a screen vs litho vs etc and/or the type of newspaper. In summary, in my feel creases are relatively easy to "fix"

Removing creases?, by chippyminton on Nov 18, 2007 21:25:52 GMT one, I actually creased my own print (Grannies) - I carelessly put it in a binder and I managed to plough a corner over in the process.Luckily the crease simply went across the white border, so I got it framed with the mount to the border of the screenprinted / pinkish groundwork expanse with the blind stamp and number visible through a window cut out of the mount board. The framer i apply said he couldn't do any thing else with it. Personally I'm happy ish with it, no one else has noticed it yet but I all the same wait at it and curse myself every now and then. If any body does have information re a means of 'restoring' or repairing creased prints I'd exist very interested...

Apparently you demand to have expert paper under and on top of the print.. |
Removing creases?, by curiousgeorge on Nov nineteen, 2007 10:07:56 GMT 1, OK, in the past I've tried DIY as well equally taking something to the framers. Both methods gave me perfect results.Firstly i boiled some h2o and allowed it to cool, then added that to a cleaned out (with sugar lather) sprat tanning bottle (v fine mist). Besides had enough of acrid free tissue paper, and likewise as well Kraft chocolate-brown parcel paper. Getting ironing board out and likewise switch fe on(depression setting with steam role off), brown paper on the base of ironing board followed past tissue newspaper, and so impress (epitome down) gently spray on the damaged surface area. Then add together tissue newspaper layer so brownish paper. Fe abroad I had some mdf sheets waiting both lined with acid free tissue paper, and so identify the image betwixt these. On pinnacle of the mdf i was able to fit 4x 20kg weight discs and then i left it for 48 hours ish, flipping the impress over later on 24 hours. End issue= perfectly flat print damage/crease free. Don't believe me/ have concerns go to an fine art shop and buy some 200/240/280/300gsm fine art paper and crease and damage it yourself, then effort fixing information technology Good luck, think always article of clothing googles, ear defenders, difficult hat * *Not truthful
